Cool Clear Water. (story con’t)

Kicking Smokey into a full run they crossed the clearing in record time. Reining hard to a fast stop, Cowboy vaulted from the saddle, running as fast as he could towards the small lake at the base of the waterfall. Without hesitation, he drove head first into the water trying to close the distance between himself and the struggling figure as fast a possible. Swimming up behind the struggling screaming person he wrapped one strong arm across their chest and started to tow them back to shore.  The person shrieked in surprise and tried to pull free, while they struggled Cowboy came to realize that the struggling figure was female.

“Calm down. I ‘m trying to help you” he said reassuringly, hoping that she would understand him.

“LET ME GO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” the girl screamed.

‘SAVING YOU!” he yelled back as they reached shore and he let go of her.

They both stood up and turned to face each other, Cowboy forcing himself to maintain eye contact so he did not bring attention to her nakedness.

“What do you think you were doing?” she demanded.

“Um, I thought you were in trouble” Cowboy stated as he turned his gaze away from her.

“Look at me when you talk to me’ she said in a matter-of-fact tone.

“This would be easier if you put on some clothes” he replied.

A loud squeal and splash were the only sounds he heard as she dove back into the water, surfacing a few feet away.

“Why didn’t you say something?” she demanded with fury in her eyes

“Ugh, I did. That’s why you got back in the water.”

‘Go get my clothes.” she ordered.

“Where did you leave them?” he asked.

Looking around she realized that she had no idea where she left them, maybe by that group of rocks over there. Or that group over there. Damn!

“I don’t know exactly” she replied sheepishly.

Cowboy started to unbutton his shirt while she watched with shocked disbelief on her face. While he was attractive and had a physique built by hard labor, with lean muscles that complimented his slender frame she couldn’t believe his boldness.

“What are doing?” she asked with trepidation.

Cowboy slipped his shirt off and wadded it into a ball, tossing to her. “Here you can wear this until we find your clothes”.

“Turn around,” she says and twirls her finger a twirling motion.

“I’m not sure I should, you might steal my shirt” Cowboy said with a grin.

“Stop it. Turn around”

Cowboy turns around and waits as she slips his shirt on. “Okay”.

“You can turn around now,” she said as she exited the water.

Cowboy turned and watched as she finished buttoned the last few buttons while climbing out of the clear water. He couldn’t help but notice how the shirt clung to her, revealing her womanly attributes. She bent over and rung water out of her long dark hair.
